help raise taxes

Posted: July 23, 2011 in Uncategorized

Taxes is a beautiful 7 year old Clydesdale mare that resides at the Tintagel Barn out in Westhampton, MA where Ingrid and I go to dance with PONY. Taxes developed endometritis which led to her foundering shortly after she foaled to a beautiful filly named Freia.  She is a sinker type founder, which is the worst kind where the bones in her front feet have dropped through the bottom of her soles. During this ordeal with weeks in the hospital, followed by many months of recovery, Taxes has kept an upbeat attitude and her spirit to live has been so strong. Her new born filly plays and rough houses all around her.  The process to to save Taxes’ life has been very costly . The veterinary bill for her to stay at Tufts University Large Animal Hospital for three weeks to receive treatment was close to $20,000. There are also special shoes that Taxes needs that are $1,500 every fours weeks. The first farrier visit to put on the new set of shoes and have x-rays was $2,500. The goal is to raise close to $30,000 — every little bit helps. Taxes is a fighter and since she will not give up, neither will we. In the words of one dedicated cam watcher “If there was ever such a thing as a ‘will to live’ we have a front row seat.” You can see Taxes making progress in her recovery by viewing the live 24/7 streaming stall cameras!
